AGRIBUSINESS UNDERGRADUATE PROGRAM, DEPARTMENT OF AGRIBUSINESS, FACULTY OF AGRICULTURE, UNIVERSITY OF LAMPUNG CONDUCTED A PARTNERSHIP WITH PT GUNUNG MADU PLANTATIONS (GMP)

The partnership development visit to PT Gunung Madu Plantations (PT GMP) was held on Friday, December 9, 2022. PT GMP is located in Gunung Batin Village, Terusan Nunyai Sub-district, Central Lampung Regency, Lampung. PT GMP is one of the largest Crystal White Sugar producers in Indonesia. Therefore, the submission of PT GMP as a partner is very appropriate considering that PT GMP is not only a national scale company but an international one.

The visit was carried out by three lecturers of the Department of Agribusiness FP Unila namely Yuliana Saleh, S.P., M.Si., Dewi Mulia Sari, S.P., M.Si, and Amanda Putra Seta, S.P., M.P. The visit was received by Mr. Riki Farizal, S.H. who served as the Legal Ofifcer Staff of PT GMP. PT GMP welcomed this cooperation visit. It is hoped that in the next few months, discussions of cooperation can be carried out more concretely. During this visit, the form of cooperation that will be carried out by the Agribusiness Major, Faculty of Agriculture Unila was discussed. PT GMP is following up on the proposed program submitted by the Agribusiness Major.

In general, PT GMP welcomes the independent internship scheme created by the Agribusiness Major. However, considering that this program is new to PT GMP, the discussion at the leadership level will be longer. In addition, PT GMP proposes that the theme of the internship can be determined jointly between the company and the student/ lecturer supervisor. It is planned that the independent internship process will be carried out in the odd semester of 2023/2024. The cooperation agreement will be discussed in early 2023 because the company is currently conducting a comprehensive evaluation of its performance in 2022.

DUDI partnership development is a series of activities that must be carried out in order to develop cooperation between universities and the business/industry world. The expected result of partnership development is that students can do a 4-month internship independently at PT GMP. In addition, good cooperation is established with a letter of cooperation agreement between Unila and PT GMP. PT GMP as a multinational company is certainly able to provide a good learning experience for agribusiness students in Faculty of Agriculture Unila.
